Ability Mutation System
Combat in The Lost Chronicles of Aranova is a highly flexible and customizable system that is being developed with player choice in mind. Instead of having complex trees or trees with limited options we’ve chosen a unique route not often, if ever, seen in video games. The player will start off with 12 types of abilities. There will never be more than these 12 abilities. However, as the abilities are used they can be morphed, providing a more unique playstyle. Additionally, the player is capable of unlocking combat roles and magical affinities to further mutate these abilities, allowing the player complete and total flexibility on their playstyle.

Magic affinities
Magic Affinities are what ultimately determine what shape each ability will take. Where Combat Roles change and add additional status effects, a magical affinity can completely change an ability. A few examples are if a player uses the Summon ability and they are select the Lifebinder Role and Spirit Affinity then it turns into Resurrect to bring someone back to life. Another is Magic Bolt ability and the player chooses the Guardian Role and Fire Affinity to change to Flaming Taunt to force a target to attack them and reduce the targets armor and fire resistance.
